Yonhap News - Seocho-gu, Seoul, applies 'odor pre-blocking technology' to 4km of sewer system

Seoul's Seocho district office announced that it will apply a technology to block odors in advance to the 4-kilometer section of the sewage system. 

This technology predicts the occurrence of odors based on existing cases such as direction and speed, and immediately acts as deodorization to prevent odors from escaping to the ground. 

The district office applied the technology to install deodorization and ventilation systems in the 400-meter section of the sewage system from the express bus terminal to Banpo Station. 

As a result, the concentration of odors near the sewage system plummeted to around 16 percent for three months. 

The district office plans to expand the technology to the 200-meter section from Banpo Sports Complex to Jamwon Elementary School and the 4-kilometer section of the sewage system.
